EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE ASSOCIATES was founded in 1976 to provide consulting and technical assistance to government agencies, community organizations, corporations, professional associations, and school systems, both on a national and local level. ERA is a multi-disciplinary organization, with a cadre of professional associates available to design and implement personalized programs for clients.
JAMES G. PARKER, Founder and CEO of Educational Resource Associates, has been a consultant, school administrator, college instructor, writer, and social studies teacher during the past forty years. He has a Master of Science in Social Science Education from Queens College.. Mr. Parker has completed graduate studies in Educational Administration at Hofstra University and St. John’s University, has held leadership positions in several professional organizations and has written articles, scripts, and curricula for professional journals and organizations.
James G. Parker received the 2001 Constance Miller Award given by the Genesee County Mental Health Association for contributions to the Mental Health field.
Richard Young, LCSW-R, AAMFT, Clinical Coordinator
Richard Young is the Clinical Coordinator of ERA’s Educational Counseling Programs. He is responsible for leading the counselors and child associates who work with children and families through ERA’s contracts with school districts and government agencies. Richard holds a M.S, in Social Administration from Case Western University, and has completed graduate programs in Family Therapy and Family Therapy Supervision at the University of Rochester. Mr. Young has held previous therapeutic positions at Strong Memorial Hospital, Family Services of Rochester, and Catholic Family Center.
Karen Heaney, M.S. EAP Case Manager
Karen Heaney serves as Case Manager of ERA’s Employee Assistance Program. Ms. Heaney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Psychology from SUNY Brockport, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Rochester. She is responsible for coordinating referrals for employee and family members of ERA’s roster of client companies with ERA’s network of professional counselors throughout the country. Ms. Heaney has previously served as a school counselor in the Greece School District, and was coordinator of the EAP at SUNY Brockport.
Barbara Hale, B.S. Communications Coordinator
Barbara Hale is the Communications Coordinator for ERA. Ms. Hale holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Human Development from Syracuse University, and is a graduate of the Executive Education Certificate Program at Simmons College. She is the Coordinator of ERA’s Drug Testing Program and is responsible for maintaining ERA’s electronic communications with client companies. Ms. Hale has previously held leadership positions with YWCA of Genesee County, Regional Action Phone, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Hospice Family Care.
